CONFERENCE
OVERVIEW

iiBIG’s 10th Annual Education Finance & Loan Symposium, will take place in Alexandria, VA on May 9-10, 2018.  This event has become known as the only conference of its kind to attract a 360-degree cross-section of all the key players in the education finance/student loan industry. Over 150 attended last year’s event – and early indications are that this year’s conference – like the industry itself – will continue this upward trend.

NEW ADDED
BENEFIT

NEW ADDED BENEFIT: CO-LOCATED EVENT – 2018 EDTech Summit – WILL SHARE VENUE
iiBIG – in association with our sister-organization, the Cloud Computing Association (CCA) – will be presenting the inaugural 2018 EDTech Summit on the same dates and in the same venue as the 10th Annual Education Finance & Loan Symposium.  Attendees of both events will share a common exhibit hall, networking and refreshment breaks, luncheon and evening reception.  Session times, breaks, and luncheon for both events will be synchronized so attendees of either event may attend sessions in the other at no additional cost.

The 2018 EDTech Summit will focus primarily on how cloud-based technologies are impacting the higher education space.  The summit will explore key areas in which new software apps and hardware are transforming everything from campus operational and financial management, to how the learning environment for faculty and students is being re-defined. For example, this event will explore the cutting-edge tools and trends being enabled by technology, including:

  • Wearable technologies and activity-based education
  • Digital textbooks and online classrooms.
  • Enabling inter- and intra-school collaboration and flipped classrooms.
  • BYOD (Bring your own device): Incorporating students’ own cell phones, tablets, and more into the educational experience.
  • Human-computer interaction (HCI): augmented reality (AR), virtual reality (VR) and mixed reality (MR) are coming to a (virtual) classroom near you.
  • Learn by doing: Gaming and Simulation
  • Don’t ask the counselor’s office, ask Siri, Alexa and Watson: Chatbots that can provide answers to just about everything, from when your student loan payment is due, to which course next semester will explain how gravity bends light.
  • Improving Campus Operations through the Internet of Things (IOT):  Managing everything from sprinkler systems, to parking space monitoring with less human interactions.

More information about the 2018 EDTech Summit will posted soon.

The 10th Annual Education Finance & Loan Symposium will feature over 40 expert speakers and presenters – from both the private and the public sector – along with other key industry participants in the education finance and student loan markets. Below are the outstanding faculty members who contributed to the 2017 symposium. (Speakers for the 10th annual event in 2018 will be announced soon).
